Due to delays from the May Derecho storm cleanup and contractor scheduling conflicts, Township staff were concerned that the temperatures and fall weather conditions would not be favourable for the application of surface treatment. This was discussed at the Council meeting which took place on October 4, 2022. Therefore, the following surface treatment applications will be deferred to 2023:   

⦁ Bradfield Road from County Road 4 – Approximately 320m
⦁ Payne Line Road to County Road 4 – Approximately 500m
⦁ Cooper Road from Caves Road to Fourth Line Road South Dummer 
⦁ White Lake Road East from County Road 6 – Approximately 1.3km
⦁ Douro Eighth Line Road to County Road 4 – Approximately 400m
⦁ Douro Eighth Line Road to Nassau Road – Approximately 400m

It is unfortunate that it is necessary to hold these projects until 2023 as the preference is always to have the projects completed in the same year as tendered. However, in this case the Township would like to ensure that these projects, similar to all other projects, are completed with no performance issues which avoids additional costs, concerns from road users and the need to follow up with the contractor for warranty issues the following year.

The sections listed above will be scheduled to be completed early in the 2023 road construction season.
