Effective January 1, 2024 the blue box program will transition to producer responsibility. With this transition, the County of Peterborough will no longer be managing the blue box program. 

Producer Responsibility means producers (the companies that design, create, and market products and packaging) are fully responsible for managing and paying for the lifecycle of their products and packaging.

This transition will not affect residents. If residents have any questions or concerns regarding blue box recycling (missed collection, new blue boxes or other recycling inquiries), please contact Emterra Environmental at (705) 742-3139.
