Alert - State of Emergency Declared in Douro-Dummer - March 2025
UPDATED April 15, 2025
The Township of Douro-Dummer continues to be in a State of Emergency.
If you spot a public works emergency on Township roads call 705-926-0214.
Most homes in the Township have power restored, but Hydro One re-assessment and repairs are ongoing. Visit the outage map for updates, to report outages and damaged poles/lines, and to sign up for alerts. If you spot a fallen line, keep at least 10m back, even if it does not appear to be live. Report it to Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235, or text 92887 (WATTS).
Warming centres have closed, but residents and guests are welcome to attend Township facilities such as the Douro-Dummer Public Library and Town Hall during regular operating hours if they need to charge their devices or wish to use the free wi-fi.
Residents who still require assistance with tree debris on private property should contact a private contractor and/or their insurance company.
Check if there is a burn ban by visiting dourodummer.burnpermits.com or by calling 1-844-971-1121. Due to the high risk of grassfire in the spring, we encourage all residents with brush to use the disposal sites through out the Township and County, rather than burning brush.
The Halls Glen Transfer Station has temporarily expanded operating hours:
- Wednesday, April 16 from 10am to 2pm
- Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20 from 10am to 4pm
During this time, Douro-Dummer residents can dispose of brush and spoiled food, free of charge, at the Halls Glen Transfer Station. Please remove packaging on foods before dumping them in the Moloks. Fees still apply for regular garbage disposal, only cash payments are accepted. Bring your Halls Glen Transfer Station card with you.
Peterborough County extended the free brush drop off location until April 22, 2025.
- Douro Depot - 713 County Road 4 (across from the Douro Community Centre), accepting brush only
The Township will not be collecting brush from private property, residents must arrange their own transportation to the free disposal sites.
Otonabee Conservation has issued a flood warning. The Township is providing free sand for sandbagging needs at both the Warsaw Public Works yard (1422 County Road 4, Warsaw) and Douro Public Works yard (435 Douro 4th Line, Douro).
Visit www.ptbocounty.ca/stormupdates for additional storm related details including a list of other County Depots offering brush disposal.
