Water Tanker Shuttle Testing Scheduled for June 22

Douro-Dummer Fire Services will be conducting water tanker shuttle testing on the morning of June 22, 2024. Testing will last from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon.

During the testing fire trucks will follow a route from the turn-around at the end of Lonsberry Lane, to the dam behind the Cenotaph at 897 Water Street in Warsaw. Fire trucks will be entering and exiting the Public Works yard at 1422 County Road 4.

Traffic control personnel will be in place at designated locations to ensure a safe, efficient flow of traffic; brief delays to facilitate fire truck movement should be expected.

Trucks will be using their emergency lights during the testing.

Successful completion of the water tanker shuttle testing results in the fire department being recognized as an Accredited Superior Tanker Shuttle Service. Testing is completed by a third party provider. To be maintain accreditation, fire departments must commit to maintaining a high standard of organization, and practice delivering the service regularly. The fire department must be able to show, through testing and documentation, that it can continuously provide water supplies in excess of the minimum required for municipal-type hydrant water supplies.

For a property to be recognized for fire insurance grading purposes (unless the underwriting insurance company deems differently), the protected property must be located within:

  • Commercial Lines (PFPC) - 5 km of a fire station and 2.5 km of an approved water supply point
  • Personal Lines (DPG) - 8 km of a fire station and 5 km of an approved water supply point

The certificate of accreditation will be posted on our website or available at the municipal office soon after testing. The certificate of accreditation can be provided to your insurance provider and may result in a reduction of insurance rates – please contact your insurance provider for details.
