Short Term Burn Ban Implemented Due to Poor Air Quality Lifted
A burn ban has been implemented due to poor air quality statements from Environment Canada. Open-air burning negatively contributes to atmospheric conditions; burn bans help protect local air quality conditions by reducing particulate and other emissions into an atmosphere where they may not readily dissipate.
"We can all do our part to limit the smoke particulate in the air by pausing our open-air fires at this time to support the Environment Canada air quality statement caused by forest fires in northwestern areas of the province," said Fire Chief Pedersen.
Roadside fire index signs will not be changed for this short burn ban. Permit holders will be notified of of the burn ban when they call to activate their permit.
Air quality and smoke forecasts are being monitored with anticipation of removing the ban later this week.
